Our La Española Journey Through Spain

Our La Española Journey Through Spain

To bring our Spring/Summer 2025 collection La Española to life, we did what we do best: packed our bags, hit the road, and followed the soul of Spain through sun-drenched cities, hidden beaches, and timeless traditions.

This wasn’t just a trip — it was a sisters’ journey.
Victoria and Valery (Carasoles co-founders), our talented sister, Cynthia, who's behind much of our photography and content, and the absence of our youngest (you were missed!) made the experience even more meaningful. Together, we set out to chase the essence of Spain — and bottle it into the designs you now see in La Española.

The Journey

We started our adventure in Madrid, where the energy is electric and every street corner offers something new. From there, we rented a car and hit the open road — which we highly recommend if you're visiting Spain and want to truly explore.

Here’s where we went:

  • Consuegra — Our first stop and a major inspiration for the collection. The iconic windmills perched on the hills were surreal in person and are now forever captured in our custom print.
  • Sevilla — Full of warmth, music, and flavor. The city was bursting with orange blossoms (naranjos) and stunning architecture.
  • Málaga — Coastal charm with incredible food, great views, and some of the best local energy.
  • Cádiz — Small, soulful, and completely underrated. The ocean breeze here felt like magic.
  • Nerja — Where the water is crystal clear and the vibe is pure relaxation. This spot inspired the easy, free-flowing energy behind some of our silhouettes.
  • Granada — Perhaps the most emotional stop. Here we saw flamenco dancers, wandered under trees heavy with orange blossoms, and witnessed the famous Spanish Easter processions — a powerful, almost otherworldly experience.
  • Back to Madrid — With full hearts, memory cards, and sketchbooks.

While we didn’t encounter bulls in the streets (we’re not mad about that), we did spot the iconic billboard bulls scattered across the Spanish highways — a reminder of the country's bold, enduring symbolism.

Travel Tips from Our Trip

  • Rent a car — The freedom to explore small towns and stop at hidden spots is worth it.
  • Go during Semana Santa (Easter Week) — If you want to witness a side of Spain that’s deeply spiritual and unforgettable.
  • Don’t rush — Spain is best experienced slowly. Long lunches, spontaneous detours, and people-watching are a must.
  • Stay central — In cities like Granada and Sevilla, walkability is everything.
  • Pack light, flowy pieces — Our La Española collection was designed exactly for this kind of trip.

The Inspiration Behind the Collection

This trip didn’t just shape the look of the collection — it shaped its soul. The windmills, the flamenco dancers, the orange trees, the bulls, and the spirit of Spanish women are all woven into the prints, textures, and silhouettes. Every piece is meant to inspire you to travel, to experience beauty deeply, and to embrace culture in your own way.
